Confidence Begins Here

Sometimes we can take on the world and other times we hide in the corner sucking our thumb.  Well, maybe that’s just me.  The difference?  Confidence.  What is it?  Where does it come from?  Can we create or build it?  Here’s how those who experience purpose answer those questions.

This is a subject that comes up at our QC Mastermind.  When attendees find out they are going to be required to do an 8 minute presentation on the last day, fear strikes the heart of the majority.  “I’ve never spoken before”, “I’m not good at it”, “Do I have to?”... all statements and questions we hear.  Fast forward 7 weeks and they step up to the platform like a superhero in a cape.  What makes the difference?  You already know… confidence.
I like to define confidence by breaking down the etymology of the word itself.  Basically it’s the mixture of two latin words, con + fidelis.  Con= with (think con queso… like with cheese).  Fidelis= faith or trustworthy.  So really the word confidence can be simply described as “with trust”.  Which then means if we say self-confidence, we mean trust in self.  If we have no confidence, then we don’t trust ourselves.  Make sense?

What happens in that 7 week span is not just a magical event and suddenly the participant is confident in their presentation.  They learn the mindset of faith and beliefs and how to structure them.  They also learn that when we couple that mindset to the mechanics of behavior or systems, viola!  They suddenly trust the process and confidence is born!

Take a look at this diagram.  You’ll notice that confidence is the third stage in the Experience of Purpose.

Frankly, level three here is where the rubber meets the road.  And the more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes.

Let us know your thoughts… I would love to hear from you.

50 Cent, Government Cheese, and the Science of the Qualified Champion

The "Gangster" Paradox: Why Autonomy is the Ultimate Un-Goal The word "gangster" carries a lot of baggage. For most, it conjures images of the street, the hustle, or the headlines. But in his recent Esquire sit-down, 50 Cent stripped away the theater and gave us a definition that belongs on every entrepreneur’s whiteboard: "To me, gangster means to live the way you like without answering to anyone." Read that again. He’s not talking about crime; he’s talking about agency . He’s talking about the " Un-Goal ." The "Should" Monster vs. The Un-Goal In my work with the WRAP Sheet and Momentum & Mastery , we talk constantly about the " Should Monsters ." These are the invisible anchors—the projects you took on because a competitor did, the clients you tolerate because you’re afraid of the gap in your calendar, and the "hustle" habits that steal your emotional capital. Most people spend their entire careers building ...

Economic Quake & Tsunami: Will Your Business Adapt, or Be Obliterated? (Momentum & Mastery)

Let's cut through the noise. The headlines are screaming: economic uncertainty, tech layoffs, tariffs, AI disruption. It's a volatile landscape, and the old rules are crumbling. And in my book, "Momentum & Mastery," I posed a question that's more relevant than ever: "The question isn’t whether things will change, the question is will your business?" Right now, that question isn't just academic. It's a matter of survival . You can't bury your head in the sand. The market isn't waiting for you to catch up. It's accelerating, and if you're not moving with it, you're getting left behind. We're seeing established giants falter because they failed to anticipate the tectonic shifts. They clung to outdated models, resisted innovation, and now they're paying the price. This isn't about tweaking your marketing strategy. This is about a fundamental shift in your business's DNA. AI is here: Are you integrating it, ...

The Unbeatable Edge

The headlines scream. The algorithms whisper. Inflation. Recession fears. AI is coming for your job. It’s easy to get lost in the noise. To feel like the ground beneath your business is constantly shifting. To think you need a new strategy every other week. Stop. Because while the world is busy chasing the next shiny object or panicking about the latest disruption, your real power lies not in reacting to their game, but in owning yours . The market doesn't pay for average. It certainly doesn't pay for replaceable. And here’s the stark truth: if a machine can do it, a machine will do it. Faster, cheaper, without coffee breaks. If your customer only cares about the lowest price, you're in a race to the bottom that you can't win. So, what’s left? You. Not your tasks. Not your basic services. But your human advantage. Your genuine creativity. The unique way you solve a problem. The empathy you bring to a frustrated client. The gut judgment that sees around corners. The ...
