Embracing the Unshakeable Spirit: My Journey to Purpose Over Profits

From Spencer Combs, Guest on the Purpose Over Profits PodcastGreetings, everyone!

I'm Spencer Combs, and I recently had the privilege of being a guest on the Purpose Over Profits Podcast, hosted by Jeremy Powers and Jim Floyd. It was an incredible experience to share my journey, which I hope will inspire and resonate with many of you.
Finding My Dream in Florida

My story begins in Northern Florida, a place Amy and I dreamed of calling home. The journey to get here wasn't just about relocating; it was about transforming my life and business to align with my deepest aspirations. It was about setting an anchor goal with my wife, a practice we've maintained since 2014, to achieve what seemed distant and challenging.

Overcoming Adversity with Determination

Throughout my career, I've encountered numerous challenges, from financial hardships to making drastic career changes. These obstacles tested my resolve, but they also strengthened my conviction. I learned that to make significant changes, one must be willing to take risks and step out of comfort zones. It's about embracing the mentality that if a goal doesn't deeply motivate you, it's unlikely to propel you forward.

The Birth of the Unshakeable Agent

My experiences led me to create the "Unshakeable Agent." This platform is not just a business endeavor; it's a reflection of my life's work. It's about helping others find their footing in a tumultuous world, ensuring that their mindset and mechanics work in harmony. It's about teaching others to be resilient, to be unshakeable in their pursuit of goals.

The Power of Goal Setting and Resilience

One of the most significant aspects of my journey has been the annual goal setting ritual with my wife. This practice has been our compass, guiding us through life's unpredictability. It's about setting substantial, long-term goals and relentlessly working towards them.

Looking Ahead: Unshakeable Drive

As I shared my story on the podcast, I realized how far I've come and how my experiences could impact others. My upcoming book, "Unshakeable Drive," is a culmination of these experiences. It's designed to inspire, to guide, and to empower.

Reflections and Gratitude

Being a part of the Purpose Over Profits Podcast was a humbling experience. It allowed me to reflect on my journey and share the essence of what it means to pursue goals with an unshakeable spirit. My story is a testament to the fact that true success lies in the alignment of mindset, mechanics and movement.

To everyone who listened to the podcast, and to those reading this now, my journey is a reminder that resilience, determination, and clarity of purpose can turn dreams into reality. Remember, the pursuit of goals is not just about profits; it's about living a life filled with purpose and unwavering resolve. Keep striving, keep dreaming, and most importantly, stay unshakeable.

The Freedom of the Un-Goal

The calendar is almost done. And you know what that means. The 'Should' monsters are waking up. They are the goals, the projects, the expectations you carry around that don't actually belong to you. You should launch that huge, complex product. You should be on that social platform where all your competitors are making noise. You should chase that client segment that is exhausting and doesn't pay. These "shoulds" are anchors. They drain your emotional capital, clutter your WRAP Sheet , and steal the energy you need to execute on the real high-leverage assets. Most people treat the New Year like a blank canvas, which they immediately fill with complex, obligation-driven goals. They mistake activity for momentum. Momentum is not the result of doing more. It is the result of eliminating friction. If a goal, a project, or a relationship is causing constant drag—if it costs you three units of energy to gain one unit of result—it is not a goal. It is a tax o...

50 Cent, Government Cheese, and the Science of the Qualified Champion

The "Gangster" Paradox: Why Autonomy is the Ultimate Un-Goal The word "gangster" carries a lot of baggage. For most, it conjures images of the street, the hustle, or the headlines. But in his recent Esquire sit-down, 50 Cent stripped away the theater and gave us a definition that belongs on every entrepreneur’s whiteboard: "To me, gangster means to live the way you like without answering to anyone." Read that again. He’s not talking about crime; he’s talking about agency . He’s talking about the " Un-Goal ." The "Should" Monster vs. The Un-Goal In my work with the WRAP Sheet and Momentum & Mastery , we talk constantly about the " Should Monsters ." These are the invisible anchors—the projects you took on because a competitor did, the clients you tolerate because you’re afraid of the gap in your calendar, and the "hustle" habits that steal your emotional capital. Most people spend their entire careers building ...

The Price of Proximity

You are, scientifically, the average. The average of the conversations you have, the risk you tolerate, the ambition you witness, and the excuses you hear. We often think environment means our desk, our city, or our office. It doesn't. Environment means the people you let into your space. A donkey and a thoroughbred cannot share a paddock without changing the expectations of the space. The thoroughbred demands speed, training, and peak performance. The donkey demands ease, grazing, and comfort. You can't be both. If you are the fastest, smartest, or most ambitious person in the room, you are in the wrong room. You are not being coached; you are coaching. You are not being challenged; you are being averaged down. The work is not just what you do, but who you do it with. Find the catalytic energy. Find the person, or the small group, whose mere presence makes your goals seem not just possible, but inevitable. They are your pace car. They are the standard. They are the fire you...
